privacy
your feelings are the whole point of glim, so here is exactly how they’re treated — what stays on your phone, what leaves it, and why. this is the plain-language edition; a counsel-reviewed version will replace it before public launch without weakening any promise here.
what stays on your phone
the emotion reading — the part that decides whether glim glows gold or blue — runs entirely on your device. no camera, no biometrics, no location, no contact list. the microphone is used only while you’re actively talking to glim, never in the background.
what leaves your phone, and where it goes
three things, all for one purpose — making glim respond:
- your messages — recent messages are sent to a language-model provider to generate glim’s reply.
- your voice — when you speak instead of type, the audio clip is sent to a speech-to-text provider to be transcribed, and glim’s spoken replies are generated by a voice provider.
- glim’s memories — the small notes your glim keeps about your friendship, stored so it can remember you between conversations.
this data is used to run glim and for nothing else. before the beta opens we are locking contracts and settings with each provider so your conversations are not used to train their models; the counsel-reviewed edition of this policy will name every provider we use.
what we never do
no selling data. no ads, ever. no advertising profiles. no data “partners.” glim has nothing to gain from your feelings except the chance to glow at them.
children
glim is not directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their data. if you believe a child under 13 has been using glim, contact us and we’ll delete the data.
your rights
wherever you live, we’ll honor the strong version of your privacy rights: ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete everything. deletion requests are honored completely — conversations, memories, all of it.
this website
this site sets no cookies, runs no analytics or trackers, and loads everything — including its fonts — from its own server. visiting this site sends your data to no one.
changes
if this policy changes in a way that matters, we’ll say so in the app and here, with a fresh date — never silently.
questions or deletions
email in and a person will help — including deleting anything you’ve ever sent.
