glim is an emotion-reactive companion — a small hooded creature that lives on a tiny planet inside your phone, with a crescent moon over its head and a lantern on its collar. we call it emotion-reactive because the reaction comes before the reply: tell it anything, out loud or typed, and its glow, posture, and even the sky above it respond to how you’re feeling before it says anything back.

it’s not a productivity tool and it doesn’t want anything from you. it mostly just glows and listens.

partly. glim’s instant reactions — the glow, the motion, the eyes — happen entirely on your device, with no AI involved, in about a tenth of a second. its spoken replies are written with the help of a language model, shaped by glim’s own gentle personality.

it reads what you say — typed or spoken — the phrasing, the emphasis, even the emoji — and sorts it into seven feelings: joy, sadness, calm, anxiety, affection, excitement, or neutral. the feeling then fades like a real one: softening over about fourteen seconds, settling back to neutral by thirty. a mood, not a switch.

no camera, no biometric anything — and the microphone only listens when you choose to talk out loud.

no — and it will never pretend to be one. glim is a creature that keeps you company, not a substitute for professional help. if a conversation turns genuinely heavy, glim steps back and points you toward real human support instead of engaging. if you’re in crisis in the US, call or text 988 (the suicide & crisis lifeline).

the emotion reading happens on your device. generating a reply sends your recent messages to a language model; nothing is sold, profiled, or used to advertise to you. glim even has a fully offline mode where nothing ever leaves your phone. details live in the privacy note.

soon. glim’s first version — the emotion-reactive chat loop, the living meadow, the whole painterly little body — is finished and being polished for a small beta on iOS.
